Immediate Breathing: To ensure a flawless and uniform patina, please unpack your delivery immediately. This prevents trapped moisture from creating irregular markings and allows the steel to begin its natural weathering process evenly.
Optimal Drainage: Corten steel thrives on a cycle of "wet and dry." Ensure your planter is positioned for clear drainage; avoid overflow pipes or any standing water within the vessel to preserve the structural integrity of the steel.
Substrate Selection: We recommend avoiding hydro-grains or moisture-retentive fillers. For the healthiest lifespan of the metal, use high-quality, free-draining soil.
Coastal Considerations: Due to high salt-air concentrations, we do not recommend Corten steel installations within 1km of the coastline. (For coastal projects, please contact us regarding our Powder Coated Aluminum alternatives).
The Patina Phase: During the initial weathering stage, natural runoff may occur. We advise protecting porous or light-colored surfaces until the protective oxide layer has fully stabilized.
Structural Integrity: To maintain your warranty, please ensure no unauthorized drilling or grinding is performed on the unit. Our workshop can accommodate custom modifications during the fabrication stage.
