- Immediate Unpacking: While aluminum does not rust like Corten steel, we recommend unpacking your delivery immediately to prevent condensation from becoming trapped against the surface. This ensures the finish remains pristine and free from water-spotting or heat-marking during initial storage.
- Optimal Drainage: Aluminum is naturally waterproof, but healthy plants and long-term finish stability require proper airflow. Ensure your planter is positioned for clear drainage and is free from standing water to maintain the integrity of both the vessel and your plant’s root system.
- Substrate Selection: To ensure the longest possible lifespan for your planter, use high-quality, free-draining soil. While aluminum is highly resistant to moisture, avoiding water-logged fillers helps prevent mineral buildup and maintains the interior finish.
- Coastal Performance: Unlike Corten steel, our aluminum planters are highly recommended for coastal environments. Their natural oxide layer provides a superior barrier against salt-air corrosion, making them the ideal choice for gardens and balconies within 1km of the shoreline.
- Surface Protection: One of the primary benefits of aluminum is that it is non-bleeding. There is no messy rust runoff like that associated with Corten steel, meaning you can safely place these planters on porous stone, porcelain, or light-colored paving immediately without risk of staining.
- Structural Integrity: To maintain your warranty, please ensure no unauthorized drilling or grinding is performed on the unit. Our workshop can accommodate custom drainage holes or modifications during the fabrication stage to ensure your planter arrives ready for use.
